Back to the grind...

It's always "fun" getting back into the regular sched after a week of vacation.  Today was one of those days.  Pops was a gem and watched Loggy for awhile for me so I could take the kids to school in peace :)  Lo finally talked Pops into looking at the train for the Christmas tree. He cannot wait to get that thing out of the box!
Pops was amazing checking all sorts of to-do things off our list.  I think he needs to fly in every month and do our "honey-do" stuff!  Lo was pretty impressed too...and I am sure it took a lot of love for Pops to be in our cold garage putting up our car top carrier holder for half the day.
Awww...we saw this balloon and had to take a pic...wish they'd had this at Kroger last year!  This year we have no Nutcracker ballerinas :(  Sorta sad today...it is the start of tech week and we are not involved.  Sigh.
A"Mimi" Nutcracker card!  awww cute!  I'd send it to Hays, but it's cheaper to just take a pic :)  Mickey makes a cute Nutcracker :)
We wore Lo out with shopping...poor kid.  Out like a light at Joann's.
So cute, I had to take another pic.  He is so peaceful when he sleeps!
LOL!  It was bring-a-friend-day at Gymnastics...and we were in rare form.
They told me this was a ballet pose?  Hays, can you verify this?  It looks more like the "I have to pee" pose! :)

The played it up big today for the bring-a-friend-day...and for the last day of this session...double blow-up toys :)  Can you spot arching Ash?
Not too shabby of a hand-stand, Ash!
Awww, he soooo looks up to his big bro.  He loves his Deeeeyon!
I didn't know they'd do a little bow at the end, but I sorta caught it from the 2nd floor :)  Go, Ash...so excited to be in Silver next week!
Nina and Pops went for the gymnastics viewing tonight...Pops left before a pic...we'll have to photo shop him in later :)
The chili eating contest...Either Shelb is the double loser or the winner?  It was a race to the finish!
Best part of the day was watching the two men argue over electricity (directions of light switches).  It was comical to say the least.  I am not sure who won, but I am going with the real electrician.
Nina lent a hand with homework.  I appreciated it.  I was tired tonight.
We found a nice place to put our old wreath.  We haven't used this since Lo came along since his name is not on it. It might be going to Goodwill soon.
D learning some electric wisdom from Pops...pretty excited about it too!
Lo has a fascination with this Nutcracker music box...he played it over and over again tonight.
He did it so long that he had to prop his head up with his lip to have the strength to keep watching :) lol!
Then you can guess what novel idea he had...airplanes and ballet mix well though their wings get jammed in the moving music box!
Trying to figure out our mantle decorating....Ash was very helpful!  Maybe she can stand here all of December?
Had to get a pic of Pops in his new shirt that I ordered in the wrong size (not to self...do not order things late at night). He was a good sport to wear it.  I think it's a nice pic of him and the kids.
Hailey joined us!  She sure gets to/from NYC fast!
And then she turned into Nina! hee hee.  A nice day...a busy day...hopefully tomorrow I get some more accomplished....shopping just takes too much time out of the day!

Bye Bye, Hays :(

Well, our NYC girl is back to her east coast home.  I think she was glad to be home.  Shelb told us Hays told her, she was "ready to go home". Not sure if this was to be rid of us, or just that she was ready to get back to life.  Either way, I understand.  As wonderful as this trip was...and as wonderful as it was for her to see lots of family and friends...it was just a little too short and not-all-that-relaxing or restful (sleep was lacking)..Anyway....we were glad to have her home for the first time since early Sept. and for the first real holiday in our new home. I think we did a great job of squeezing in as much as we could in 3.5 days.  Hopefully Winter Break will come with more relaxation and down time.  Here's a few pics of the Hays on her final morning here....of her chowing on waffles with Ash :)
Saying goodbyes to Nina and Pops. Soooo glad they could be here to see her, since we are not making a trek down to FL any time soon.
She got lots of driving in...and gave helpful advice to Shelb...to set a better example. haha :)
Final waves from Nina and Pops...what doting grandparents they are! haha :)
Final hugs from Lo at the airport.  He was a little grumpy and really just wanted to hop on the plane with her, I think...he hearts airplanes (that's what he's looking at in this pic :))
Being a goofball with his Hayeeee
Off to brave the air on her own again...what an independent New Yorker she is now.

And with her chili dog lunch in the Indy airport.  Yumm.  Gonna miss this girl, but we get to see her again in less than 3 weeks so we can make it!
An attempt at putting up our new tree tonight...I think it is too small for our 9ft ceilings and Nina and I might be on the hunt for a new one tomorrow (and this one might go in the sunroom)  Poor daddy is beside himself on the floor here knowing I will probably make him move this again tomorrow...

Our entertainment for the evening...the Shelby and Dylan show...they are quite a pair.  I think this was a cop and robber routine set to music, of course?

So...we are minus one again.  We are getting used to this, but it's still hard having that void in our home.  And the hard thing about this week is that it is Nutcracker week at IU...a week where normally I would be helping out every night backstage and she would be on stage.  There is a big void knowing this will not be our reality this week.  I am sad.  I know she is too.  But hopefully bigger and better things are to come in the future for our ballerina.  Night, Night in NY, Hays....

A Mexican Post-Thankgiving/Early Christmas/3rd Bday Celebration...and a trip to the farmer's market and tree farm :)

A dismal day in Indiana...more rain...more gray...but we made the best of it.  Here's a few pics of the day.  Hailey went out to eat bfast with some of her best buds...and when we picked her up we shot on over to the Holiday Farmer's Market. We have done this the last couple years, but it was a little rough this year with the drizzle.  Lo was not sure about these reindeer.  They were so cute though...a mama and a baby.  I think mama liked him :)
Probably the drizzliest trip to the tree farm ever.  I could not find one I really wanted, but we settled for another white pine like last year. We will see if it holds up our ornaments.  It was fun having Nina and Pops along...they are very helpful tree-picker-outers and put up with my driving around the entire lot looking for various trees--in the cold and rain. :)
Awww, love this almost 3 year old!  He did good today in spite of only a very short-van-nap.
Best part of the tree farm...the free hot choc. (or cider) and popcorn...and warmth!
We had our big Mexican Thanksgiving tonight with Nina and Pops and Sue Sue.  It was a big party...Ole'!  The food and drinks were delicious and the company was even better!
An attempt at celebrating Lo's bday early with Nina and Pops.  But all he wanted to do was play with his new gift...airplanes! :) (LOVE the shirt that SS Sharon made!....adorable and perfect for our Mimi-lovin' boy!)
And an early Christmas with Nina and Pops....gotta squeeze it all in bc our NY Gal leaves us tomorrow after church. Sigh. What a short and very busy visit.  Can't wait for more laid back times in Dec. when she is home.

A triple-fun day!

Just a quick one tonight...of our fun Black Friday...no early morning shopping (I tried to get someone to go out with me for some fighting the crowds-fun, but no one was interested...sleep rated higher I guess...but we did get an awesome $69 flight for Hays for winter break...whohoo! Anyway...we had an awesome morning of deliciousness and smiles with our besties...at our post-Turkey-Day-Black-Friday-STY-Brunch/Quadruple bday celebration (double 40's and double 3's!)  We love our bestie STY fam...they always are good for the soul and we miss not seeing them more.
And then....we got a big surprise...some extra special FL family flew in and surprised us.  Ash was super shocked when she opened the door. YAY for Nina and Pops being here (Hays, Kev and I knew about the visit, but we did our best to keep it on the down-low).  YAY for FL family being here!
And then a MI surprise...two our of most fav. MI family came to visit us on their way to FL. We have not seen them since Dylan was a baby, I think....it real treat to see Aunt Joy and Uncle Jer!   They are the best! And we enjoyed some yummy OG take-out!
We had a whole big show for the fam. in the loft (I think the Stegs kids could win on America's Got Talent....kinda like the Jackson 5 :)....violin, keyboard, singing, dancing, and trumpet-playing--this was a first for us...this was daddy's old trumpet (and I think Poppy Stegs old one originally)...and Uncle Jer was Logan's best bud...like a big kid at heart.  They had an all out war with nerf guns!  I think Lo won! :)
YAY for family (and friends who are just as dear as family!)...best part of the holidays hands down....much better than spending the day shopping!

A Thankful Thanksgiving

I'm guessing it's pretty obvious, but this Thanksgiving I am most thankful to be a complete family again.  So thankful to have my 5 kiddos under one roof again....even if they are a bunch of turkeys! :)  They remind me on this day of thankfulness, just how blessed I am!
Gobble, Gobble...we are a family of turkeys :)
Love this girl...and love that she is home--even for a short time....and love the uniqueness she adds to our crazy brood...they were in rare form tonight before Turkey Day movie night.... :)

A wonderful day was spent with family (I will post more pics later of that)...but I have decided that while my Hays is here, family is my priority and I will most definitely fall behind on writing.  Happy Thanksgiving to all!
