Sweet Potty Success!!

Well, that day has arrived.  Potty Day!  Or Pee-Day as we like to call it!  And as you can see, it ended in success...sweet pee-pee success!  Here's a victory cheer after the first pee this afternoon!
And let's backtrack a little...our day was busy...and potty training did not start til after 3pm...but the idea of it started much earlier.  We went to the mall to get some undies.  Truth be known he has plenty of leftovers from Dylan...but...I thought it might be extra incentive to let him pick out his own..and I had a gift card to Gymboree...so off we went!  Here he is swinging his undies outside the store!  Whohoo!
Soccer ones and pirate ones...he was so proud of them :)

I found this on the internet (how to train a boy)...not that I don't know all this (though I am not sure we have the "right equipment"?), but I have trained 4 kids and 1 other boy...still it was a good reminder :)
  1. Let him watch and learn.
  2. Buy the right equipment.
  3. Help your child get comfortable with the potty.
  4. Motivate with cool underwear.
  5. Set up a training schedule.
  6. Teach him to sit first, then stand.
  7. Set aside some naked time.

We tried first...but he just wasn't ready.  But he was being a corndog!
 Truly...a silly boy!
He got a little forlorn the longer he had to sit.
But he kept his humor about him :)
Telling me he was done...in the nicest way...with no pee in the pot
A new idea...switching positions and peeing on a cheerio.  Shelb's words were..."that just ruins cheerios for me". True that!
I think it ruined the idea of Cheerios for Lo too.  The face says it!
He's so sweet...even sitting on the pot!
Singing a tune on the pot...ya' gotta make it interesting :)
Love those sweet blue eyes...they melt my heart...even while on the potty :)
His incentives...luckily we still have lots of Easter candy so the candy was free...and the stickers were old too.  And aren't the undies he picked out so cute!
 Happy with his goodies!
LOL!  Apparently he grew up today!  He heated up his own mac and cheese. Seriously did it all by himself...he even pushed the right button and turned it on!
And here is where the sweet success occurred!  I was running after him..thus the blurry pic...and big bro was helping him. He was so excited.  He had started going pee on the blue rug and caught himself.
 This is his "thumbs up!"
 Love it.  A potty cheer!
 Happy with his prize!
Big bro helping him pick out a sticker.  Bumm hanging out and all.... :)
 Potty chart :)
He looks so big sitting in his boxers timing himself with his timer :)
Chillin' in his pirate outfit :)
Goofiest kid around...but I love him...he's so good-natured.  Of course after this he had an accident in his room and then hid in Dylan's bed with his pee pee undies.  D was not happy!
Telling us how bummed he was that we could not find Hailey's old potty anywhere....he really wanted to use it!  Maybe tomorrow, buddy....
Chasing big bro around the yard in his undies!

And after this he went pee in the potty two more times...yay, yay, yay!  He is such a big boy and I am so proud of him. Makes me a little sad that he is growing up, but I know it's time.  Love you, underwear-wearing/peeing in the pot, buddy!

Memorial Day Memories at the Lake!

A wonderful Memorial Day was had by the Stegs...at the lake!  Our first time on the old boat this season and it was a gorgeous day!  I will add more to this hopefully tomorrow, but here's a few pics of the day...of our arrival...feels weird to take a pic on a day like today w/o our Hays.  We really missed her today. We miss her every day, of course, but sometimes her absence is harder on certain days...
Awesome weather...just perfect. We have had many stormy Mem. Days, but this was so nice...aside from being w/o our Hays.  Here's the walkway to the boat...you can sorta see it from here...
A yummy lunch...fancy too!  Filet!  Yummmmmm!
Fishing for dinner...Shelb was convinced she was going catch something with chips and a net!  What do you think Pops?!  You are the expert FL fisherman.
A little too sunny for Stegs eyes, but still a cute pic on Big Mabel! (the raft)
LOVE!  So excited to be in the water!
Waving to sisters on Big Mabel!
The three kids rocked it on the knee board...go D!
Possibly last boat trip with a diaper? We can hope!
My fav. pic...it might look like a blob, but that is indeed my talented and athletic hubby attempting the kneeboard. I will let you guess if he succeeds or not!

More pics later....but a great Memorial Day and so grateful to Nina and Poppy for a great day. Wish our Hays could have been here especially since her day was rainy and spent doing hw.  Blah!

One Year of Livin' Here!

Well, it's hard to believe, but our home has been our home for 1 year as of today.  I can't really believe what a whirlwind year it has been. In some ways it seems we have been here a decade and in other ways it seems like the moving truck just unloaded our stuff!  I still remember that crazy way we moved our family into this new home we built.  Anyway....I am too tired to get too emotional about how fast the year has gone...but I do have some pics (old and new!) to post....here's last year this day...after our house closing...our home was finally ours!
Not sure if this home was ready for this amount of crazy! :)
Here we are a year later...a little tamer (at least today)...and minus one :)
haha...a year ago...D running around the new house :) :)
A peaceful night outside our house tonight....
In honor of our 1 year house-anniversary we built houses...out of Legos...and out of pretzels and crackers :)  We had a little fun with it :)
And backtracking a bit...here's the day in pictures...out of order as usual.  We helped at church in Lo's area.  It was a little crazy...crying kids, peeing kids...but I had Kev and Shelb to help...we were good.  I love watching Lo interact.  He's a good kid...a growing kid...which makes his mama sad sometimes :)
Ash helping with our house pretzel creation. Not as easy as it looks.
Attitude.  A large part of our day consumed with "tude".  Not cool, Steg kids, not cool
D was the first to build a Lego house...cool!
Oh and grad. open houses consumed a fair part of our day.  But aren't these cute?!  I need to learn how to do these for my girls.  So cute!  My friend and her daughter made them, I think.  Sweet!
One grad is the sister of one of Dylan's best buds at school. She had no qualms about beating him up a bit while we were there :)
Then we headed out to our fav. guys' grad. party! Go, Harrison!  I love this pic on his board.  Must have been from Easter.  Ash was mad she missed being in it for some reason. Cute selfie though and made me feel a bit like Hailey was there!
Good ol' Harrison. His one request for his party was wings...good ol' Buffalouies!  Shelb was happy!  She loves their wings!
Cousin Alyssa and Danielle both came home to help their bro with his party...one good thing about two older sisters. Not sure D will get this lucky since Hays might never come home this time of year to help for his grad party.
I had hoped to have a nice meal on the back porch in honor of our 1 year house anniversary.  But it was rainy out and we were tired after the open houses...and some of us were pretty grumpy (guess who)....so, pizza indoors, it was!
 This boy cracks me up.
This one too...he burped and cracked himself up. I missed the crack up, but he's still cute!
Shelb built a very cool house too...with all 5 kids' beds in one room...LOL...that would be "fun" for the kids! NOT!
Ash also made a cool house :)
Lo was fascinated by this Lego balloon.  Had to hold it.
Our fancy pretzel/wheat thin house.  Good thing I am not an architect. This thing fell apart almost right away.
D had the idea to put "one year" on the front and put one person/bear in front of each letter bc that would equal 7 of us.  That boy is always thinking!
The log cabin outside the not-so-log-cabin :)
Maybe we have too much fun with food sometimes :)
But at least this one was edible and yummy :)
And fell apart in a second.  Good thing I didn't build our house :)
Totally forgot it was Indy 500 day.  Hays remembered though :)  We used to make this a big day and go to our Race party, but that fell apart years ago (though we did see our fav. race day friends yesterday!).
And this is what our Hays was doing today with her ballet buds....hanging out at Six Flags...her friend, Max, treated them all to this fun day for his bday, I think.

So, there ya' go....hard to wrap my mind around the fact that we have lived in our "new" home a year.  It's been such a long year in so many respects and I certainly don't feel like we've moved in fully yet or are settled at all (our garage is proof of this!)...but there's been a lot of love and memories in this house in the last 365 days and I hope the years to come have many more.
