Covid 171–mackinac island anniversary trip❤️❤️πŸ₯°πŸ₯°

Enjoying our late anniversary trip to Mackinac Island! A beautiful piece of MI...almost but not quite as beautiful as the tropical islands of Europe and Caribbean. A little chilly for me but still nice when the sun is out.  We got here late afternoon via ferry and checked in to our lil inn room.  Out for ice cream, our horse drawn carriage tour, some shopping, walking around, a tandem bike tour at sunset and dinner at the pink pony. Yumm!  Now heading to bed early.  It’s just great to have some peace and escape virtual schooling for two days.  Thx to both ninas and pops for holding down the fort!  Oh and yay that Hailey is Covid free at Calvin. πŸŽ‰πŸ’—☀️

Covid 170–Shelby first xc run of the year, Hailey moves into Calvin (yesterday) and a flat tire

Well I was so tired yesterday after our adventurous travel that I forgot to post, but we made it to Michigan and Hailey moved into her new dorm room at Calvin. A surreal quiet masked experience this year with the craziness of Covid. And of course our travels couldn’t be uneventful… Kevin heard a rumbling and discovered a flat tire near south bend. A great opportunity for Hailey to learn to change her first tire except we couldn’t get the Lugnuts off and AAA was not answering phone calls. Thankfully a retired Navy guy saw us and stopped and had all the right tools. So that detour caused Hays to miss her first Covid test but thankfully we made it with about 20 minutes to spare before her rescheduled one. Which gave us also enough time to unpack the van and move everything into her room. Kev ran out and got a new tire put on our van. After that it was pretty uneventful as she settled into her new third-floor room which is lovely with vaulted  ceilings. She quickly unpacked a few things and moved furniture around and ran off to a socially distanced dinner with her fav guy and friends.  I know her heart is happy to be back.  It’s where she belongs even during a pandemic. Kev and I drove around downtown where we got married, split a Panera sandwich and were in bed early at the “bed and breakfast of auntie joy and uncle jers” πŸ˜‚Sleep felt good.  This past week was exhausting. 😴in other news we had the best morning watching shelb run her first Covid xc race in Indy l.  So proud of her for doing her best after a rough week.  She’s a super runner and so glad it worked out for us to see her on our way out of town!πŸƒ‍♀️πŸƒ‍♀️πŸƒ‍♀️πŸƒ‍♀️
