A much-needed lazy day...perfect for a SW marathon!

First off, a pic from last night...I feel badly that I wasn't more "with it" on my little boy's birthday. I did the best I could, but his 3rd bday will always be a blurr to me.  He did like his cake though, especially the cannon candles! ha!
And this is how our day began today...a 3 year old snoozin' in our bed. He has not done this in a very long time, but I have noticed over the course of the last year that when his mama is not doing well, he feels my pain and he gets anxious and wants to be near me. So he snuggled up between us and slept longer than he ever has...til after 10am!
A much-needed lazy day for us.  I slept for most of the morning on the couch next to the gang...while they watched Star Wars. It was daddy's hope to have a SW marathon, but most of the kids seemed unenthused.  A free day allowed for this and they ended up watching it (minus Hailey...she was anti-social today :))
A free day also allowed for time to play with Christmas and bday gifts...this cool one is from Uncle Brian and Aunt Anne. Never seen this toy before...very cool...flexible race track with light-up cars.
Trying out the drone...I just love that they are doing it our new house...seems safe, right?
"I love the cards!!!".  This was Lo's thank you to Auntie Mary and Great-Grandma in FL...do you think they heard his thank you!? haha :)

While being sick was the pits, all the snuggle time with my buddy is the best. He felt so bad for me so many times and he would just hug me and get as close to me as he could.  Love this sweet boy!
 He's a little crazy too :)
He pretended not to be interested in "the force"...but I saw him sneaking a couple peeks :)
Shelb got an itch to make chex mix, but apparently our microwave is not meant for this...she set it on fire :(  Oh well.  It was a good thought and she got a few bites of unburnt pieces.

He loves his new bday boat from Nina and Pops in FL!
Daddy likes all the boats too!
We didn't finish all the SW movies, but we made a good dent in them!  1.5 to go...and then the new one on Wednesday!  I regret to admit that I know way more SW than I should :)
At one point he ran around with his bday balloons...over and over and over...
He was excited to see mama making a mini-boat for his bday celebration with Sue Sue tomorrow!  He mostly just wanted to sneak fondant! He helped a little...
So thankful for a down day...a day to rest and recup. Kev has the week off (mostly)...which was a blessing.  And I am feeling much better!

Some bdays just aren't that great :(

Well, if a picture could speak a 1,000 words, this one does it. :(

Our day was rough.  Bdays shouldn't be that way, but life is often not in our control.

One bummer is that this mama ended up with her head in the toilet around 5am.  I am not sure if I got a stomach bug or food poisoning, but it was projectile and no fun at all.  Could not have been worse timing. I think I would rather be sick on a holiday than one of my kids' bdays.  It royally stunk. I was a bump on a log all day.  I could hardly get up til this evening and still am in pain.  So, sorry, Lo...bad timing.

Another bumer was that the poor 3 year old was just in rare form today. He wasn't listening, he was trying to sneak candy, he didn't want his pic taken at all (as shown above...this was one of the best of him with his cake)...and he cried more than any kid should on his bday.  I don't even think he ate anything today, but junk. And he slept on daddy's shoulder during dinner and threw a big tantrum when we put on his pjs just now.  Poor kid.

It was just a down day. The weather is awful (cold and thunderstorms all day), and it was all one big reflection on the day, but we did the best we could with the bad weather, bad health and grumpiness.

I/we are taking a break from all things tomorrow, but hopefully will catch up on life after that. I have got to get myself well and rested for heading to NYC on NY day.  Sometimes life deals us downer days...even on bdays.  But I hope this is the first and last time I am sick on kiddo bday.  I had such high hopes for Lo's first bday in Indiana....but honestly FL bday celebrations seem much more enticing after this day!

But I still love this little buddy with all my heart and we were greatly blessed that blizzardy day in Dec. when he joined our family.  He definitely adds an energy and humor that we could not do without!  Love you, little Logan Thomas!  Happy 3rd bday, Buddy!

A very merry Christmas!

Well, this was definitely one of the top rated Christmas's.  We needed a down day...and we got it.  I am not sure it was as "down" as we would like. There are just not enough hours in the day even if you hardly do anything.  I think we need to take more days like this.  It is good for the soul and mind.  I still felt we spent about half of our day cooking, doing dishes or putting together toys (Santa was slacking giving us so many things that needed assembly!).  But it was lovely to not even get out of pj's all day...I never even brushed my teeth, hair or put on deodorant.  Should I be proud of that?  But, really, it was a lovely day. We didn't get as much relaxing in as we thought...no time for a movie and it's now 2am the day after Christmas (so little sleep), but it was nice to just be at home with just us. I know they days are so fleeting so I cherish days like this.  I will post more, but I have got to get some sleep. These next few says are busy...and hopefully after that we enjoy a calm before heading to NYC.  Hope everyone had a blessed Christmas!  Here's a few pics of our day....and of the kiddos fav. gifts....and a few selfies (I got a selfie stick...two, actually!) :)  And we had lots of good food...some food flops, but mostly B+ food!
1st Christmas in our new home...and outside it...it was like 60 degrees out...I am not sure I have ever gone outside on Christmas in Indiana with no shoes or a coat.  Though honestly it felt like FL...just no sun and pool...bah!
Scootering in December...weird.  Lo loved his new one from Brooke and Austin!
Our bfast...which was more like lunch...at 1pm.  A flop mostly...stuffed French Toast sounds better than it is...and we burned the maple bacon.
Fav. part of the day...waiting to see what Santa brought...
Love...look at their faces...so excited to run down the stairs!
the surprise that got blown...NYCB tix to see the Nutcracker...and a scary light up Nutcracker ornament!
Lo was in a fowl mood...this is how he posed most of the day...not anywhere near us...I knew way (he had 2 Christmas poops tonight)
                                           The aftermath...

The easel she has wanted forever!  Mommy and her even put it together...that was a gift in itself :)
Santa brought him Jake's lego ship!  His fav!
A desk...it's what she wanted the most...plus undies! lol :)
Sideways so hard to tell...but its a drone...D loved it...I think Daddy loved it more...
An early bday present...a double fondue pot!  LOVE!  You can guess what dessert was tonight :)

I've always wanted this...a fireplace.  First time having it in 17 years of marriage.  It's the simple things for me.

Family, good food, a day in pj's...a good Christmas...a very merry Christmas!

Merry Christmas Eve!

Just a few pics before we hit the sack....of some of the fun of our day....these didn't download in order, so here is a lovely pic from tonight...of the kids having a little fun...we moved our sunroom rug into the living room for Christmas (easier to open gifts on something soft than the hardwood floor!)...anyway...they made themselves comfortable.  Lo was sitting on their heads trying to do this move, but I missed that shot :)
My fav. pic of the boys from the day...so sweet :)  D tried to put his arm around Lo for the pic, but Loggy said he wanted to hold his hand :)awww...
My girls...they all are looking so old now :)
My fav. pic...of our church service tonight...we have never had a candlelight service here, but it is a favorite of my past from my old church (FLCRC).  I am so glad they did this tonight...it was so pretty from up in the balcony.
Our yummy meal...first time making good chicken pot pies...yumm!  The rolls from Nina and Pops in FL were a hit too!  Plus we had snickers apple salad...and sparking grape juice (thanks to our Besties for this gift they dropped at our house yesterday!)...and Ash made candy cane place holders. Fun!  We were so stuffed we never even at our grasshopper pie or our apple crisp...more for tomorrow!
Our first Christmas Eve meal in on our new home!
A bunch of goofballs all ready for Santa to come. They left him enough cookies to feed him and the Mrs. and the reindeer!
And below is our morning of baking...cookies, pie, snickers salad, cake...along with some crafting.  A too-busy day.  I hope our 1st Christmas in our new home is more relaxing...we are an hour into it and so far so good :)

Christmas crunch time...too busy to post!

Well, I just added some pics to a blank post...but it's 2am and there will be no wording. I am done for the day...well, more accurately I am done with yesterday. I feel done with today too and it just began.  I long for a Christmas that does not feels exhausting....sigh.
