Covid day 110–goodbye preschool park party, a day of Flamingal lemonade standing and this mama’s back is out! 😢😖

Well it was a day.  And I’m a sore mama.  Started off the morn saying goodbye to our preschool class at the park.  Our final hurrah...and I am officially done with that job.  As much as I’ll miss it I’m looking even more forward to staying home for the year.  Never have I been home with no kids or a job.  But if any year is a good year it’s the year of covid.  Anyway, it was so fun to see half our preschool kiddos.  The perfect amount to really get to sit and chat with everyone!  We were so grateful the rain held off!  But of course I go to take one of the preschoolers out of the toddler swing and out goes my back.  It was all I could do to stand back up and not cry.  And then I had to grin and bear it for another hour.  And of course I can’t gone home and rest, I have to run get the kids at church, pick up a friend of Ashley’s and set up they whole lemonade stand down the block.  But thankfully the older kids helped with lifting.  And after 3 hours of selling lemon shakeups and choc chip cookies on the corner of our street they’d made $80!  That’s pretty good for a slow Covid day in our hood!  They were super stoked.  Ash is saving to buy an underwater camera!  Anyway, shelb also tackled running, a college prep class, and Dyl went off to b-ball very bummed that he’s only allowed to shoot hoops and no running (first PT appt tomorrow).  Seriously the kid looks depressed.  Loggy and I continued with our game of sw monopoly and hays laid low just chatting with friends and making some plans.  Life is full.  Always.  And this mama prays I can move tomorrow.  Tonight is not good. 😖

Covid Day 109...back to the grind...

Well, it was back to busyness and normalcy after almost a week of having "fun Isaiah" here :)  Not always fun jumping back into things.  Up early to take Shelb to the eye doc to get fitted for frames.  Thankfully this was a fairly quick event bc she found her awesome new trendy Ray Bans in no time at all (I was proud of her for being decisive!) and instead of costing $480 they cost $10!  So thankful for good eye insurance!  She can't wait to be cool with her new eyewear!  I have to say that trying on glasses with a mask is stinky!  Not only do the glasses fog up and you can't see a darn thing, but you can't see your whole face, so how do you know you even like them??  And for $500 you should like them!  Ugh.  Weird world we live in!  Then I ran off to my final day of work stuff...goodbye preschool.  I resigned a couple months ago, but have been wrapping things up and cleaning out my drawers.  It's bittersweet bc I absolutely think this is the BEST place to work with the best coworkers that are like family...and I love the kids too...but I need this year to reevaluate my career and get my act together at home...and pour into my family more. I'm grateful I can do that, but there will be tight funding at home...especially with these covid times.  Anyway...but I had fun turning over my crafts and room to some of our fav suitie preschool teachers!  And then I ran Dylan to his Sports Med appt.  I'm trying to focus on the positives here bc the xray they took was clear and their was no pain felt, but the doc is still sending him to two weeks of PT and no sports during that time. Wish this was a month ago and that was no big deal, but high school sports starts next Monday and he will likely miss another round of travel games in Indy for bball.  He was bumming to say the least.  Hurts my heart to see his sad bc sports is so important to him and he works so hard.  But in the end I trust that waiting a couple weeks will be best for his hamstring and future athletics. Praying it won't make a difference in him making the soccer team this year and that he can finish out the travel bball season in good health!  Seeing him sad today really brought me down.  I struggle taking on the weight of my kids.. :( And I just felt I raced raced raced around all day.  I'm trying to get the remainder of my summer calendar organized and it's definitely going to be picking up now with sports starting for Shelb and Dyl on Monday...and honestly we've not had a huge break this summer even with Covid.  Still so much going on!  And tonight Ash and her buddy, Quinn, had their first lemonade sale for college kids.  They put up their awesome Flamingal booth and sold their lemon shakeups and choc. chips cookies...all homemade...it almost felt like the fair.  They were proud of the $20 they made!  And tomorrow they'll sell by our neighborhood playground.  Proud of these little entrepreneurs!  This mama is whipped.  I miss lazy summer days!

Covid day 108–Steg Scattergories and Isaiah leaves 😭

Another fairly laid back Sunday.  Ash fixed us a lovely waffle brunch.  Her specialty!  We had two soccer zoom meetings about the outlook of hs sports during covid.  Interesting.  And a rousing game of scrabble!  Dyl and I won!  Kev and Dyl helped with a drive thru scout found drive.  No one but us donated in the hour we were there.🤭. And we finally had our heated match of scattergories.  If you don’t know, I take this game very very seriously.  I know my words and I love alliteration.  But Isaiah gave me a run for my money.  We ended up tying after I had a pretty hefty lead.  But I’ll take that since Isaiah is very smart and very well traveled and knows more foreign
 things than I do.  A slight advantage. Anyway...I put up good arguments and we had a smashing good time fighting it out. 🤯And then he left to go home. 😢😭 We miss him already.  He fits right in with us crazy Stegs! ❤️

Covid day 107–lazy, grad party, water balloon fight, rowdy burrito game, big ol meatball subs!

A great semi lazy day at home due to rain.  Poor Dyl was supposed to have his b-ball tourney bright and early but bc of his dumb hammy he’s out.  The only bright side to that is no early morning rise!  We all slept in til quite late.  And ash helped me make scones and eggs.  Yumm!  Then shelb and I hit a grad party and the afternoon was quite lazy too.  We played a rowdy game of burrito brawl or whatever it’s called.  Loggy cried multiple times and there was fierce burrito throwing.  Then we had a competitive game of water balloons!  I think Isaiah lost bc he was the most bruised and battered! Lol 🤣. And we had a stuffed evening of big meatball subs with the unique ingredient of cilantro that was supposed to be parsley! 🙄 I’m not even sure what we did tonight but the hours went by.   And Isaiah leaves tomorrow already. 😢

Covid day 106–h&i hammocking, cooking out over the campfire and the drive in

Another beautiful day in bloomy.  Hays and Isaiah took a drive and hike to our fav spot near lake Monroe and hammocked.  We cooked out over our campfire which was a challenge due to wind and no firewood to be found in bloomy. Everyone must be bored and camping. Plus canoeing...tried to book one any time in the next three days but all booked up.  Oh well.  But we managed to get a fire started by being creative and had a fancy real beef hot dog meal. Then off to the drive in to see zootopia.  Only old movies here now but Isaiah had never been to the drive in so we had to give him this fun experience! 😎

Covid day 105–lower cascades picnic and waterfall

A lazy morn for the kids and I had the worst ultrasound ever.  If you’re a woman and have ever had the ABUS you know what I mean.  Ugh.  No fun.  And I’m tired of covid precautions at appts.  It’s getting old!  The kids played switch most of the morning and we headed to lower cascades to picnic, catch crawdads, hike to the waterfall and let Loggy slide down the water area.  He had fun.  That place was hopping with kids likely bc all pools are closed.  And it was a nice day. Lo was also super excited that the playground was open again. Yippee!  We raced home (in the Hailey-getting-us-lost-kinda-way😂). Dylan went to b-ball and watched from the sidelines.  Heartbreaking.  And Hailey made us a yummy Mexican chicken chili with corn on the cob.  She’s quite the cook! 👩‍🍳Ash our baker made chocolate chip cookies.  Yumm!  Shelb was raising a ruckus wearing a weird mask she made and we ended the evening with a rousing game of whiffle ball in the field.  ❤️

Covid day 104–turkey run, doc appts, hamstring tear :(, lemonade stand, friends...

Been a busy day of this and that.  Hays and Isaiah were off early to Turkey Run to meet their bestie, Grace, and hike.  They had fun!  And Hailey got to drive for her first little road trip.  And she didn’t crash. Hurrah!  And the rest of us all had our own stuff going on.  I had a dermatology appt. All went well but really weird to get my temp taken and wear a mask  Dyl had an appt too for a physical (also masked and weird) and sadly found out he pulled his hamstring and likely has a small tear.  He was so bummed.  So sad.  He’s worked so hard over covid on his b-ball skills.  I’ve honestly never seen a kid work so hard on his own and to have to sit and do nothing is heartbreaking.  His first games since March were this weekend in Indy and he’s sitting out.  I know my sadness, so I can imagine his.  We are just praying rest will help and he will be able to play again next week.  And praying so hard this doesn’t affect his soccer and b-ball season at school.  Sigh.  I hate it when my kids hurt. 😔.  He was happy to hang with a school friend today so that was nice and took his mind off of his bad news. Shelby just organized and cleaned to her hearts content today.  Logan amused himself and I felt kinda bad for him but I was gone all day.  And ash finished up her lemonade day stand and video with yer bestie.  It was so cute with their flamingo costumes.  Oh and our besties stopped by to see our kitties.  Yay!  And we ended the night with homemade pizzas and hanging outside.  We’re all tired.  Been a long day.
