our lazy-ish Columbus Day...some sleeping in (not for daddy...he left early for his work retreat...and I wasn't feeling well)...and these two like tv too much to sleep in :)
I think this is my fav thing about breaks...just simple play...blocks, magnatiles, polly pockets...and no arguing.
Her bday thank yous are done. YAY!
A last minute decision to head out for a picnic lunch. It wasn't raining like predicted, so we took a very late lunch and headed to the winery. Lo is so smart and so efficient. He packed his own lunch and even healthy stuff. He's getting so big!
I had forgotten how beautiful this place is! And bc it's been so warm all the flowers were still blooming. Reminded me of butterfly world. This flower is amazing!
And then the contrast of all the fall festive pumpkins and gourds. So pretty here by the waterfall! The last time I was here was for family pictures when Lo was almost one. And the only time I've actually been inside the winery was when Sue Sue visited us when we first moved here like 15 years ago! I need to go here more often! So pretty and peaceful.
We had our picnic lunch by the pond. So pretty here. I had wanted to do this for Mother's Day, but we made other plans. Maybe next year.
Chillin' with half my fam :)
Shelb could not wait to check out the pond...we were sure there were turtles in there. Nope. But lots of fish. They looked hungry too.
They were fascinated by the lily pads that had flowers blooming and were fenced off for some reason.
An attempt at getting along.
Just in case you couldn't see her face. They were NOT getting along.
So peaceful and serene at least via pic bc you can't hear the arguing...
Seriously...not getting along. Ugh. So tired of the bickering.
Sorta getting along.
Time for crazy faces :)
We can be weird.
And weirder.
Someday she's going to scare people in the courtroom just by looking at them :)
But she's a beauty inside and out :)
Some form of tag or a race?
So pretty back in here...
Cool limestone formations
Ash loved these flowers :) Nina G would too...she loves this pink.
Such a pretty view from above the waterfall :)
Lo took pics right in this spot when he was 9 months old.
They had soooo many pumpkins.
We had a hard time narrowing down what we wanted.
Love all this fall stuff!
Nina G would have loved these...glass pumpkins. Hand blown in Bloomington.
The kids first time in the winery. They did not like the smell of it :)
We bought 5 pumpkins/gourds and chocolate. What says fall more than that?!
So pretty...the girl and the scenery :)
trying to touch the fountain frog...almost succeeded :)
Chillin' with my baby and our pumpkin purchases.
Love fall.
She only came for the chocolate. We were going to give one of these to daddy (white chocolate), but we ate it :( Sorry, daddy.
Bye Bye, Oliver Winery...hope it's not 4 years til we see you again!
We headed out to see the actual vineyard, but my phone couldn't take more pics, so will have to add later from Shelb's phone. But it was neat to see the grapes on the vine. And Lo amused me with a pic by the fence where we took a pic of him and his sibs 4 years ago. Time flies!
One pumpkin or gourd for each Steg kid...can you guess which one the kids got for Hailey...I bet she can and she knows why :)
Meanwhile somewhere in Indiana (at a ranch) daddy was having his big work retreat with 20 coworkers from around the world and country. He was obviously working hard!
I thought my beer was better :)
Kev's dining accommodations. Looks like a hoedown!
He got steak and mashed potatoes...we had pancakes and bagel bites. Tough comparison. :)
Giddy over double chocolate chip pancakes!
Equally giddy over bagel bites. We rarely buy them bc they are expensive, but for break I thought I'd splurge.
And ending the evening with movie night (can't even remember what we rented from Redbox--Diary of a Wimpy Kid?)...but it was cute...and we had popcorn and milkshakes. Yumm! The other boys missed out!
Some pics of D on his St. Louis adventures! Great group pic of the kids and the city behind them!
They went to the City Museum today. Looks cool! I think they are in the tube up on the top there...can you spot green Dyl?
Then they slid down...
Not sure what this is? A ferris wheel?
Looks fun! Caden looks scared :)
They should be home by now but since it was right before midnight he just stayed the night at their house. Can't wait to hear about it tomorrow. It is lonely here though without half our fam. Hope Kev is enjoying his work bonding experience. Not sure if he was sleeping in a hammock in the trees or in a teepee?
